About The Thunderbird
According to Wikipedia The Thunderbird is a legendary creature in North American indigenous peoples' history and culture. It's considered a "supernatural" bird of power and strength. It is especially important, and richly depicted, in the art, songs and oral histories of many Pacific Northwest Coast cultures, but is also found in various forms among the peoples of the American Southwest and Great Plains. Thunderbirds were major components of the Southeastern Ceremonial Complex of American prehistory. Native Americans were very geek oriented because survival required them knowing much to do much. This is something we can all admire.
My Nickname Tony "T-Bird" Burgess
As a member of the youth group of Signal Mountain Baptist Church in the 80's my youth minister Rev. David Bodenheimer at the time gave me the nick name "T-Bird" and for years it just stuck. Sometimes it resonated more than others. I embrace it as a powerful creature depicted in Native-American culture that is a bird of power and strength. I believe it is within the scope of me being a "Geek for God" as a person who is discovering himself as a person who knows who's he is and who he is becoming. After a few years off the "T-Bird" nickname has resurrected into the older guy the younger guy would become!
